Recently a test was conducted to replace the standard TAXI and Runway Turnoff lights with a LED version of the lamp.
The normal lamp p/n  4551 is now replaced by a LED lamp p/n 2307335-1. The new LED lamp can be installed in the same housing, using the original wiring of the conventional lights. It is expected that the LED lights have a life time of approximately 30.000 hours, so it is expected that only damage will be a reason for replacement.  This is guaranteed by the manufacturer.
The light output will be brighter than the conventional lighting.
