Sometimes you find oil puddles in the engine exhaust areas of the CFM56-7.
This small oil puddle is a normal condition and no further maintenance action is required as long as the engine oil consumption remains stable and stays within the max allowable limits of the AMM.
The oil puddle can be caused by engine starting and/or shutdown or by dry motoring when the oil pressure is higher than the sump air pressurization-pressure and can cause small amounts of oil to exit the rear sump drain and cause this observed puddle. Due to the differences from engine to engine or the amount of dry motoring or engine starting dynamics, there can be the variation of oil puddles from one engine to another.
Common sources for this oil are the flame arrestor area and the oil aft sump overboard drain.
